Can small-format ceramic tiles become architecture? DECOCER answered this question at Cersaie 2026 with EARTH IN MOTION, a 92 m² installation designed by architect Héctor Ruiz Velázquez, which attracted a strong flow of visitors throughout the five-day trade fair.
Architects, interior designers, designers, specifiers, distributors and professionals from international markets visited the DECOCER stand to discover the installation, the new collections and the possibilities offered by small-format ceramics in contemporary projects.
EARTH IN MOTION: When Small Format Becomes Architecture
The centrepiece of DECOCER’s participation at Cersaie 2026 was EARTH IN MOTION, an installation conceived around the relationship between matter, movement and light.
Designed by Héctor Ruiz Velázquez, the installation uses assembled small-format ceramic pieces to create a large self-supporting, modular mineral membrane that surrounds visitors.
The perception of the space changes as visitors move through the installation and light interacts with its structure. The result highlights the ability of small-format ceramics to create different perspectives, rhythms and compositions.
The installation therefore proposes a change of scale: from the piece to the space, and from the surface to architecture.
“EARTH IN MOTION has allowed us to showcase small-format ceramics from a different perspective and, above all, to create a space for dialogue with professionals about its possibilities,” says Héctor Ruiz Velázquez, the architect behind the installation.
